SENIOR ADULT
Programs and Mission
Our Senior Adult Ministry is an organized effort that attempts to challenge and enhance the lives of those in our church and community who are Senior Adults. In doing so, we help to meet their needs by providing opportunities, events and resources for the implementation for ministry and just plain “fun”.
We seek to accomplish our purposes by monthly meetings, monthly day trips, homebound ministry, special events and Senior Adult choir.
Monthly Meetings
On the fourth (4th) Wednesday of each month at 11:30 a.m., we have a covered dish meal. Occasionally we move the meeting day to accommodate special festivities. At this meal we also have a very informative program that is beneficial to senior adults.
Monthly Day Trips
It is our goal to take at least one day trip each month (weather permitting). We have been to several locations across North Carolina. We also have many excellent trips scheduled for this year. The cost for each of these trips is minimal and usually the transportation is free.
Homebound Ministry
This ministry is conducted by many volunteers in our Senior Adult group for the homebound members of our church. These volunteers contact each homebound member by phone or by personal visit each day. They also take Sunday School literature and periodicals that would of interest to our homebound members.
We also take the Lord’s Supper to our homebound members within a few weeks following the Lord’s Supper observance in our church.
If you would like to help in this ministry, please call me.
Special Events
Special Events are trips that will require at least one night stay away from home. Each year we will do at least one special event. This year’s special event is a trip to attend the Senior Adult Bible Conference at Caswell, October 22-24, 2007. While there we will also spend an extra night in the Myrtle Beach area and attend Carolina Opry on Wednesday evening, October 24 and return home on Thursday, October 25. The cost for this trip is $165.00.
If you would like more information about this trip, please contact me.
Joy Singers (Senior Adult Choir)
This group rehearses each Thursday at 10:00 a.m. and sings the first Sunday evening for worship at 6:00 p.m. This choir also sings at various nursing homes in our community as time permits.
It is open to anyone who considers themselves and senior adult and has a love for singing.
If you are interested, please contact me at the church office.
